(grant) the son of oakland city councilwoman lynette gibson-mcelhaney was shot and killed sunday morning. 21-year-old victor mcelhaney was studying music at u-s-c. los angeles police say he was killed in an attempted robbery less than a mile near the campus. police say three to four male suspects approached mcelhaney and one shot him.. the group then fled in a vehicle.. he was taken to the hospital where he later died. police are still looking for the suspects. tomorrow night's city council meeting has been canceled in the wake of the shootng. (grant) in the east bay... police in oakland are searching for a gunman after a deadly shooting at a bar downtown. it happened last night at the liege spirits lounge on ninth street. officers say one man was killed and another was injured, but is expected to be okay. right now police do not have any information on the shooter. (vicki) on the peninsula -- a c-h-p officer is recovering tonight after being involved in a crash with another driver on highway 101. it happened in san mateo this morning around 10 a-m...

this is video of the scene police say the other driver stayed with the officer and is cooperating with investigators. the officer's injuries are considered major but not life-threatening. (grant) and in the north bay -- curbside debris collection started today for russian river communities devastated by flooding. people are told to put flood debris in three separate piles. one for appliances, metals, and other recyclables. another for household hazardous waste. and the third pile is everything else.. pick-up by local waste haulers will take place today through friday, with a final sweep for remaining items next week. last tuesday -- county officials declared a local health emergency and funded the clean-up. lawrence karnow: it was a sunny and bright day all the way to the coast. it was a little warmer too with highs in the 50s and 60s. its mostly quiet on the doppler radar but we are still seeing some rain in southern california. tonight will be mostly clear and cold. lows will be 30s and 40s. tomorrow will be a little cooler with partly cloudy skies. highs will be in the

(vicki) although long forgotten by many - it is now one man's vision to give these people who served in the us military, a proper burial. in this exclusive kron on story - terisa estacio takes us to a paupers grave site... where officials are on a mission. buried here - we found these metal markers that went into the triple digits. he says a retired san rafael police officer has been tasked to cross reference records. years ago, a mental hospital was situated here. sean. the goal here is to relocated to travis - it is to bring them home. sean explains marin is following the path blazed by officials further north. in sonom county, they have already relocated the graves of 115 veterans and 5 dependents.sean. sonoma has already uncovered many vets. they would come here and die and no one would come claim them. now, per a state law we are going to do that. the san rafael officer doesnt have a family so it is really important to him as well, to not be forgotten. sean also says this is not the only pauper's grave site in marin county. sean. there is a site at san quentin. we have already found one person. and then there is the matter of cremation. sean. we have 3 crematorians. they have remains as well. we will cross reference them. sean says work is already underway to figure out who is here - and to make matters right. sean. they deserve this. in marin county, terisa estacio kron

growing call to make daylight saving time extended year- round. he tweeted on today, "making daylight saving time permanent is o-k with me!" but if he wants to eliminate the legal requirement of "falling back" an hour each year... he will need congressional approval. most states actually observe eight months of daylight saving time, and just four months of standard time.a common justification for keeping the time change, is the belief that americans use less energy with extended summer daylight hours...but studies have found that's not the case.

(grant) the parents of a young woman who they say is being manipulated by singer r- kelly... are desperately trying to reach their daughter.

tim and jon-jelyn savage say r-kelly has brainwashed their daughter, joyce-yln savage, into a sexual relationship. kelly faces aggravated criminal sexual abuse charges... which he denies. today, savage's mom said r-kelly's behavior is similar to what you'd see in a cult. (ken) kron 4's dan kerman is live in santa rosa tonight with the latest details. dan? santa rosa murder suicide 0311196 insertsotthis was a very targeted act of violence at the coddingtown mallpolice say it was 830 in the morning, when a a man walked up to his wife's white suv and shot her multiple times, killing her.sot theyve been married 27 years, they lived here in santa rosa and were recently estranged in the last 3-4 months were separated.police say a recent request for a divorce may have set the husband off. and when he opened fire, one of the bullets hit the side mirror of this mazda barely missing a woman who was getting into it. sota stray round struck her vehicle but no one else was hurt in the parking lotafter shooting his wife, police say the husband then got in his car and drove 2 blocks away to the coddingtontown mall apartments where he had been staying and killed himself. the couple is survived by 4 children ages 8 to 25.52/eight to twenty five (oncam)a big story tonight. vacaville police say they now know the identify of a woman they've been calling jane doe for nearly 30 years.
